About Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC)
Valley Forge Military Academy has been approved by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to receive donations from Pennsylvania businesses under the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program.
Businesses reduce their state tax liability by earning credits in exchange for needs-based scholarship donations to VFMA.
Companies receive a 75 percent tax credit for a donation which can increase to 90 percent if the business commits to making the contribution for two consecutive years.
Businesses which file as S-corporations, Partnerships, LL or C corporations are eligible. Taxes eligible for credits include:
-
Corporate Net Income Tax
-
Capital Stock Franchise Tax
-
Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax
-
Title Insurance Company Shares Tax
-
Insurance Premiums Tax
-
Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax
-
Personal Income Tax of S Corporation shareholders
-
Personal Income Tax of partners in general or limited partnerships
Participation is easy.
- A business completes a one-page application (LINK)
- Submits a signature page via U.S. Post to the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development at 400 North St 4th Floor, Harrisburg, PA 17120.
- On approval, the business makes the contribution to VFMA within 60 days of the date of the approval letter
- On receipt of an acknowledgement letter from VFMA, the business must send a copy of the letter via US Post to DCED within 90 days of the date of the original approval letter (Note – this is not the acknowledgement letter from VFMA)
- On receipt of that letter, DCED will advise the Pennsylvania Department of revenue which will apply the appropriate tax credits aligned with the application.
- Businesses benefit by reducing their state tax burden while being involved in education. Further, the donation can be a deduction of federal taxes.
More than that, students who may otherwise be unable to do so, are able to receive a VFMA education
